I’ve been waiting for my childhood favorite place surf and swim to reopen since it closed during Covid. Got the news that they were reopening finally after about 6 years and cried out of excitement because my whole family and I have waited for this day to come 🥲 just to find out a few days later the worst possible news ever 🫩 that they got rid of the one thing that made surf and swim awesome: The wave pool. They will now have a “Murphy surf simulator” that is nothing even remotely similar to the OG wave pool. Basically now after waiting years and years for my favorite place to reopen it’s been turned into a cash grab gimmick comparable to a knock off Hawaiian falls. This is probably the most disappointing news I’ve gotten and I honestly rather it never have reopened if they were gonna ruin it completely and throw away the whole concept of what made it awesome! Have fun spending $17 for a knock off Hawaiian falls I guess! Even though you could go there get a season pass for the summer & have more fun than whatever surf & swim has become. So disappointing this is not what the fans wanna see… thanks for throwing so many people’s childhoods down the drain 🫠

We used to hold our campfire meetings in this place decades ago when I was a kid where they now have an exercise facility. There's a place I can go in and just sit and be in the cool air and charge my phone if I want. People use the facilities to practice basketball.

My son tried to go to the gym on 1/20/2026 at 5:40. The lady said the gym is closed and that it closes everyday at 4 and is only open for classes. I just paid for a card and it seems to be a waste of money. Ya'll upgraded everything only to close early does not make sense. The heavy set black lady with glasses was extremely rude and did not want to answer my questions and had the nastiest attitude I ever seen I was appalled. Saying "you can go look it up", or "you can go somewhere else." My son gets home from school at 4:30. This rec is not convenient at all if kids get out of school between 3 and 4:30 how can they go to the rec during the week if ya'll close by that time. Ya'll even close before 4 on Saturday. It seems like this rec is mainly intended for adults/classes for adults. I believe the class this day was held in the gym. I honestly would like my money back that I paid for the ID card. Ya'll need to seriously hire people who have better customer service. The facility is nice but what is the point if ya'll close at inconvenient times and the employees have such nasty attitudes. This place operates more like a YMCA and is more focused on being available to people who have classes or whatever because this place is getting paid for such events. The ID cards should be free if this location is basically only open on Saturday until 3 or 4 while there is no school. If ya'll using the gym for other purposes and preventing kids from using it, why not add another gym or another room for said classes since you already did so much renovations. Not fair to the kids.

A lady that works there named Marisa Yates Has made me not want to go there anymore and a lot of my friends have stopped going there as well. she is very rude and bossy when people check in at the gym. and 5 months ago a friend of mine organized a baby shower and to our surprise the lady that was in charge to close was this lady. and we had to leave at 8 pm and she at 7:30 pm was already looking at her watch at the door. and that is not fair and she said we had to leave already. and me and my friends decided to not rent events there anymore or go to the gym. and it is sad that for one person that is rude we can no longer go there. and we all pay our taxes and we live close to the rec center this is not fair
