Ashé Cultural Arts Center in Central City, New Orleans runs a culturally grounded youth summer camp (its Kuumba Academy Summer Program) for children ages 5–15, roughly mid-June through the end of July. Campers take part in visual art, music, African drumming, dance, gardening and social-development activities led by local teaching artists and culture bearers, with field trips and guest artists. It is the youth summer program of a nonprofit arts center.
