Arena Players is the oldest continuously operating African American community theatre in the United States, based in Baltimore since 1953. Its Youtheatre program, founded in 1974, offers performing-arts classes and a summer theater camp for ages 4–18 in drama, music, dance, and theatre production, with an emphasis on confidence and teamwork.

It's clear that all involved take their craft seriously. Very encouraging and heartening to me was the involvement of the youth in many aspects of the plays. It's encouraging to see young people valued and included in productions. The heritage of the theater group was on display and the pride in their building, their history, and their purpose was on full display. I will definitely be back to see more and look forward to seeing what the renovations will mean for even more dramatic fun!
