YMCA Camp AGQ (Al-Gon-Quian) is a traditional overnight camp for ages 8-16 on the southwest shore of Burt Lake, operated by the Ann Arbor YMCA and serving about 1,300 campers each summer. Campers stay in semi-rustic cabins with counselors, and the program is built around the Y's core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The camp marked its 100th summer in 2025 and awards scholarships to more than 150 families a year.

★★★★★Peggy SharpI did the 3 week camp back in 1980 when I was 11 yrs old. I loved everything like polar bear, horseback riding and especially camping in the woods for a night and my counselor and I saw a bear cub when we went to go to the bathroom. Needless to say we didn’t hangout long. Best experience of my childhood. Had my first kiss there too. And the last night dance was great. Loved doing the talent show. I wished I could have went back but I moved and didn’t get too. I would love to go back and just walk around again.
★★★★★RH RHWent to AGQ in the mid 70's, man-0-man was that a great place to be..... 3 week sessions horses archery firearms canoes(at one point I was youngest to ever "stern' the stergeon river in camps history) a lot of great memories some absolutely great staff members back then my two favorite were Luke Livingston and Tom Craft those guys made camp what it was...... I went 7 -8 years in a row, some of my best memories are at AGQ..... if the camp is 1/3 what it used to be well worth the cost and the kids will absolutely have a blast.... Again I came thru in the mid-70's is where my review is based..... LOL if the chow hall is same as before I believe my name is on several of the plaques and boards....... Robert H

In 1987, I sent my two sons to Algonquian and now I'm planning a summer for my grandchildren. There is no experience like Algonquian to broaden horizons, hone skills and learn about self-sufficiency. I highly recommend it for any young person. I still sing the Al-Gon-Quian camp song.
