American Dance Studios runs a full-day Summer Dance Camp and Intensive for ages 5-14 at its Rising Star Institute studio at 8A Casey Ave in Edison, where dancers work through ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, acrobatics, K-Pop and musical theatre alongside arts and crafts, games and team-building. Camp runs Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, in one-week themed blocks across July and August: Princess, Wicked, K-Pop and Barbie, with the same schedule repeating in August. Weeks are capped at 30 dancers, tuition is $300 per week and must be paid in full by June 1, and campers bring a cold lunch. The program suits beginners exploring many styles as well as dancers preparing for the next season.

The owner and instructors are caring and in tune with meeting students where they are. The class is developmentally appropriate, while still teaching the basics of ballet. Alongside the instructor is a student instructor, maybe around 10 years old, and even she is really great with the kids. You can see how the instructor empowers the student instructor without compromising the lesson. My daughter is still coming out of her shell, but the instructors have been extremely patient, encouraging, and celebrating the progress along the way. You can really see how much the owner and instructors care about dance and their students. I’m excited to see how my daughter continues to progress throughout the weeks.
