Adaptive Sports Connection teaches children and adults with physical or cognitive disabilities to ski and snowboard, using certified instructors, trained volunteers and sit or stand-up adaptive equipment. Lessons and open skiing run at Snow Trails in Mansfield and Mad River Mountain in Zanesfield, and each new skier begins with an introductory session that assesses needs, abilities and goals. The Powell-based nonprofit offers scholarships to participants with financial need. Spring and summer bring adaptive kayaking on the Scioto River, along with adaptive cycling and mountain biking.
