I have visited many Ys across the country and this is a small and poorly equipped Y considering the population of the area. The floors in the locker room are slick when wet, the shower walls are painted concrete blocks. It's all very similar to a lousy campground bathroom. I also was shocked to hear "Christian" music being piped through the speakers in the locker rooms. My understanding of the YMCA is that they are a secular organization promoting Christian values but accepting of all faiths and lifestyles, " it operates as a completely non-sectarian entity that welcomes individuals of all faiths, backgrounds, and secular beliefs." Perhaps that isn't the case in this area of northeastern Indiana. When you are forced to listen to "Christian" music while showering and changing it doesn't feel open or accepting. Not everyone wants to be preached to during or after their workout. I would not recommend this YMCA, there are many others nearby that offer a cleaner, better equipped, and more welcoming environment.

Cancelled my membership 5 days before the end of the year because we moved. To no surprise they just charged me for January, amazing how it takes that long to cut off the autopay. So now I paid for something I won't be able to use. Ridiculous.

Signed my 3 year old son and 2 year old daughter up for the kids swim classes. Was informed tonight by staff that I am not aloud to bring my 3 year old son into the woman’s locker room because he’s a boy, even tho he is 3 years old. To me this seems ridiculous considering there are rooms with curtains for everyone to change in. My son wasn’t undressed in from of anyone nor did he wonder off away from me. We changed in private as everyone else did. We do not go to the family room as it is always locked and the hallways are atleast 60-65 and who is going to stand there with a little child to wait who knows how long to be able to go in there and change. Do better YMCA.

This is our local YMCA but we have to drive 45 minutes to use the Auburn YMCA. As a two-working-parent family, the best time for us to use our YMCA is on the weekends and there isn’t childcare offered on Saturdays. They also close for the summer on Sundays. The sauna is only open if the pool is open and the pool hours are very limited. The Google hours show they are open on Sundays during the summer even though, as mentioned, they aren’t. I have found that I have to call first to ensure they’re open because it’s inconsistent. I wish the gym was managed better.
