YMCA Camp Weona

My daughter is going to be a CIT this year at this camp and she will not stop talking about it. The food is healthy they do plenty of activities to keep the busy for the week. The counselors are nice and helpful. We love camp Weona

Our son went to CIT camp this summer for 3 weeks! Staff were informative and patient with all my questions throughout the year of me saving for this experience and opportunity to become a counselor in the future for The YMCA. Leo has been going to The YMCA since he was 1 y/o so programs for every age is endless to choose from for parents. He was reunited w friends and counselors and now wants to experience to be a an international counselor! Camp Weona is about a 40 minute drive from Buffalo NY. The layout is huge! You get a tour on grounds where the cabins, horse stalls, pond, eating area and athletic/ camp activities are located and can use personally to know the experience your kids will have while you are child free! (Trust me, I was happy my grocery bill was back to my single days) Leo talked about the mashed potatoes and pot roast was his favorite! I noticed he still drinks more water than pop! Redbull is still a fight but not like it used to be between us! He said it was definitely because of how hot it was out there and after trying to drink pop it was just nasty! ( A win is a win in my book) There was a no electronics policy in place but I think it depends on the campers age. I didn't care if he had a phone, I wanted him to have a real memory of 1970's Bill Murray: Meatballs Movie vibe! His cabin had at least 8-10 kids? Bring at least 2 fans for them because it more comfortable at night! He came back w a full spray bottle of bug spray. Deer fly/ Horse flies are the enemy! He gave up putting it on and made a mission to assassinate them all. He lost to Mother Nature and her soldiers! He shrugged it off and still had fun! I definitely had the anti itch creams for him and calamine lotion on the list of meds. I also want to give a shout out to the permanent ground keepers who live on the property! I had a flat tire and let me tell you, they helped and put AAA to shame in making me get home safely! They patched the rip and thank God it held because I didn't have the proper tools to get the Jeep spare of the back! I owe them a drink(s) the next time I see them! I don't have photos, there is obviously a website! Who hasn't at least experienced going to the Y at least once in their lifetime!

We brought a group of high school students to Camp Weona to camp for the first time. When we arrived, we were told that the cabins had been cleaned (they had not-- the cabins were very dirty and we found a pair of shorts in ours). There was mice poop everywhere and actual mice were overrunning the cabins. One mouse even had babies in one of my student's luggage. Also a big negative was the amount of food provided for each meal and the far walks to get to anything. On the plus side, the kids really enjoyed the horseback riding, kayaking, and high ropes course, but were disappointed that the zip line was not functioning. Overall, I would not recommend this camp experience to others.

Went for the Labor Day Family Weekend, had alot of fun! You get a workout walking from place to place. There's alot of different activities, fun for everyone!
