My daughter started playing soccer when she was was 5 years old. We joined Yavapai Soccer in 2018 and we had the most amazing experience with this club. She played in the Recreation league and I was a volunteer head coach. I have worked as a volunteer coach in several different organizations from AYSO, Prescott Little League and as a high school football and basketball coach and all I can say is that our experience with Yavapai Soccer was something we will always look back on as a rewarding and fun experience. The board members are truly there to support the youth of our community and they care about the quality of the coaches and the programs. They brought in instructors to help coaches run their practices and did everything they could to create a successful and fun environment for the kids, parents and coaches. They cared about the kids safety as well as all coaches were required to take on line courses all geared toward the safety of the kids. I was asked every year to provide a safety seminar for the coaches so that while they were charged with the care of our kids they knew how to keep them safe! We loved Yavapai Soccer and we are so fortunate to have such an amazing club right here in Prescott Valley!!! I highly recommend that you have you kids play! You will never regret it!!! I’ve had the privilege of being involved with Yavapai Soccer for over 10 years, both as a coach and as a parent of two children who have gone through the program. It has truly been a rewarding experience. I’ve always appreciated the sense of community and the dedication of the many volunteers and program leaders who selflessly give their time to support local kids and help grow the sport. Like any organization, challenges arise from time to time, but what really stands out to me is how the Yavapai Soccer leadership addresses those issues—with transparency, fairness, and a genuine commitment to the players and families they serve. That speaks volumes about the character and integrity of the program. There are countless hours put in behind the scenes—often without recognition—to ensure these teams and opportunities exist. Ultimately, it’s the kids who benefit, and I’m grateful to have been part of something that makes such a positive impact in our community. Yavapai Soccer is an excellent program that I would highly recommend to other families.

This club failed its players. The kids tried out for the Select team over the course of 3 days. Made the team received acceptance letters. Parents signed contracts. Uniforms/gear ordered. Payments to the club were made. Then the next week, the head coach was pushed out in favor of a more decorated coach who needed a team. This decorated coach and the director of the club held a new “tryout” to select the players he wanted for his team. He chose a handful and then the director cut the rest. How could you do that to those kids? It’s one thing if they didn’t make it during the standard tryout, but to hold a mock tryout after they already made the team and then cut them!? They already knew the key players they wanted and just needed an excuse to cut the rest. Such a shady, dirty, and shameful way to go about running a club!

I will never put my kids back in here. No wonder everyone is "jumping ship" When a club struggles to find coaches for rec and select. They will take on parents with little to no knowlege of soccer just to have a "team." I have seen teams not get to play because the lack of help. Then just remove coaches with a great background. Due to parents thinking there kid will go pro. And to be more "cutthroat " Dealing with them for 4 years, I can say. Communication is horrible. Very chaotic. No Transparency. I have meet very wonderful parents during this time but not the ones that run it.

We had a deeply disappointing experience with Yavapai Soccer Club. After my son attended all official tryouts and was formally accepted to the Select 13B team (complete with a welcome email and registration instructions), the club replaced the coaching staff with no warning and held a surprise “tryout” at the first scheduled practice—without notifying families that previously accepted players could be cut. My son, along with others, was removed from the team after being told he made it, and we were quietly deleted from the team chat without any explanation—at 10pm, no less. There was zero communication, zero respect, and zero accountability from club leadership. This was more than just poor organization—it was a complete failure of leadership and basic decency. Parents and players deserve transparency, especially when kids’ emotional well-being is at stake. I spoke with Lis Gittins regarding this and her unprofessionalism is PROFOUND. I will be continuing to reach out to her superiors and I will update review as necessary. I haven’t dealt with this level of disrespect in many years. I’m shocked by the level of disgrace and disrespect they show
