The Norwich Family YMCA runs a summer day camp at Camp Thompson, an off-site camp property at 303 George Crumb Road in Smyrna, for children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade. Camp runs in weekly sessions from July 13 to August 21; drop-off at the Y begins at 6:30am, buses leave for Camp Thompson at 9:00am and return to the Y between 4:15 and 4:45pm, so the day covers a full working day including transport. Families register week by week rather than committing to the whole summer, with a $25 one-time registration fee, and must supply health insurance and immunization records. A half-day option is offered for children attending the district's Stay and Play program in the mornings, and the Y is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with an Open Doors financial assistance program.
