Our family ultimately decided to leave this studio due to ongoing concerns that, unfortunately, appear to still be affecting dancers today. One of the biggest issues was the studio's unwillingness to address bullying and negative behavior among dancers. Multiple parents brought concerns to the attention of staff and leadership, yet there seemed to be little accountability or meaningful action taken. As a result, many dancers were left feeling unsupported. Another concern was the inconsistent enforcement of studio rules and expectations. Certain dancers appeared to be held to different standards than others, creating a perception of favoritism and unfair treatment. When rules are applied selectively, it can be discouraging for children who are working hard to meet expectations. Most concerning was the emotional impact on the dancers. It became far too common to see children leaving practices upset or coming home in tears. Dance should challenge and inspire young performers, but it should also be a place where they feel safe, respected, and encouraged. We hoped these issues would improve after we left, but after speaking with several current families, it appears many of the same concerns remain. Every child deserves an environment where they can grow both as a dancer and as a person. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. This is a shame DO BETTER!!!
Clear favoritism and a significant lack of commitment from the management team and instructors in addressing the growing concerns about bullying. On top of that, the tone used when speaking to students is often discouraging to the point that some children are begging their parents not to return. Do yourself a favor and “Express” your kids to a different studio where respect, fairness, and a healthier environment are actually prioritized.
My family and I love this studio! My daughter has been dancing at XYDC for almost 5 years. She is finishing up her first competition season this year. It has been so wonderful to watch my daughter grow and come into herself. Not only are the staff caring and kind, they also inspire and motivate the kids. They've also created a wonderful environment where the older girls mentor the younger girls. This has been the best thing for my daughter as she doesn't have any siblings. I must say I was reluctant to become a "dance mom," however I've met some other incredible parents this year, and it's been a great time for me as well.
My daughter has loved every minute of being a part of XY dance studio! She felt welcomed from the first class. Her teachers have been amazing both in instruction and creating a fun environment. She has come a long way in technique in the 3 years she’s been at the studio. We can’t wait to see how much more she comes along through the years. The staff is wonderful at communicating with parents.
