My son was initially hesitant about attending Wolfeboro, but the experience turned out to be genuinely transformative. After his first summer there, he returned home not only more confident and disciplined, but also asked to go back the following year on his own something I hadn’t expected! He attends a very high pressure school in New York City, and the academic environment at Wolfeboro provided the perfect balance of structure, challenge, and support. The program encouraged him to work hard while also giving him the space to mature both academically and personally.

It's not often as a parent that you can plan something for your child that you hope is a life-changing moment, but that's what we did when we sent our high schooler to Wolfeboro. The magic wasn't just in the food or the lake or the kids or the cabins or even the teachers -- it's in everything and how it all comes together to encourage, inspire and build confidence in these children. It's truly, truly a special place!

Sent my son here many years ago. They mishandled a medical situation (didn't tell us about the issue until our son called) and dealt poorly with a racial issue between my son and another kid (that could have easily been diffused). We lost a great deal of money after our son prematurely left the camp. His two closest friends in the camp didn't return the following year due to how poorly the camp handled the situation. I am posting this now becuase my older review seems to have been taken down and my son recently brought up how traumatized he was from the Wolfboro experience (he is now in college and thriving).

Our daughter had an amazing summer at Wolfeboro in 2024.  The experience provided her with growth and joy in more ways than we anticipated or even thought possible.  These include areas of academics, independence, becoming a part of a community, gaining confidence as well as making new and authentic friends.  This was possible through the efforts of the Wolfeboro staff working as a team and creating a highly structured albeit balanced (and fun) program; we recognize and appreciate their competency, dedication and efforts. Entering into the 2024 school year we find that our daughter has been able to retain and apply what she gained at Wolfeboro -- she is more centered and confident, and able to learn the material and execute school work more fluidly (Math, Science, and English).  A specific measurable outcome is that after taking the ACT her score improved by 2 points; she took the SAT Math prep course at Wolfeboro which used math review and problem solving as a basis (not just strategy discussions).  Our daughter shared that she was able to complete the math and science sections completely within the allotted time while she had not been able to do so when taking the test before (she took it 3 times before, and received other helpful but not as thorough preparation).

I wholeheartedly recommend Wolfeboro Camp School to any family and would give it 10 stars if I could! Our son thrives in a structured environment, and Wolfeboro provided exactly what he needed to boost his academic confidence. Limiting electronics during the summer truly allowed him to focus without the constant pull of a cellphone, to engage in his environment and actually enjoy learning and socializing (in person!). The extracurricular activities were amazing and offered a service component that further boosted our son's spirits, drawing him out of his bubble and reminding him how good it feels to help other people. In addition, we had many conversations with instructors from the school during and after the term which demonstrated to us how invested they were in our son's future and in his best interests. I wish we could replicate the Wolfeboro School experience all year long.
