Westlake Chinese Academy runs weeklong cultural summer day camps in west Austin for children ages 4-12, held Monday-Friday 9am-3pm with free early drop-off and late pickup. Each day blends hands-on cooking of traditional Asian dishes, conversational Chinese, and afternoon arts such as calligraphy, watercolor, paper cutting, origami and folk dance, ending with a swim in an on-site creek.

The camp director sent photos throughout the day and it was really awesome to see what they were doing. They enjoyed playing in the stream on the property. They loved the counselors. As a parent it was really helpful that all food was provided and even better that it was prepared then enjoyed by the kids! We wished we had signed up for more than one week but will definitely be back next summer!

Also, the opportunity for my child to appreciate acquiring another language and appreciating a culture beyond his own was so important to me and this camp delivered. The organizers were also very aware of safety with bathroom and swimming protocols that were clear. Instructions for parents were clear and my favorite part were photos throughout the day to see what he was up to! We can’t wait to go back next year!
