★★★★★Kara BarrettI started coming after a long break from exercise, and the first few days were tough. The staff didn’t push me too hard, which helped me adjust slowly. I like that the gym doesn’t feel intimidating even when experienced lifters are around. One treadmill was under maintenance for a few days, but it was clearly marked and fixed later. Overall, it’s steady and practical for routine fitness.
★★Austin ThompsonThis YMCA is pretty good considering the age of the building. However, it is incredibly frustrating how they always have the gym booked right after work for activities. I understand they have community events but it’s at least 3-4 nights a week that are fully booked. Some of the events have 3-4 people attending and they want to claim the entire gym. Example - 5:45pm or 6pm start time and booked until close. Wish they would move these events to Lakewood since they have multiple gyms.
★Sarah StanleyIts so hot in this ymca its hard to even work out. Not sure why its 80° in there even on nice days, they still had the heat on. Thats way to hot for me to work out or do anything physical. I know your supposed to sweat and all when you work out but not like this. You would think for a business like this, they would be trying to save money and energy especially when having this entire place at 80° or higher is insane. The pool area alone heats it all up no problem but then you add in the heater on the other sides sometimes it feels like its 90°. I seen their thermostat is set at 74° thats high. I keep my houses on 70° when its below freezing outside so for them to have it higher then a home is crazy and insane! PLEASE TURN THE HEAT DOWN!!! 🥵 🔥
