Welcome Amigos International School · Private
Welcome Amigos in San Mateo is a Spanish-immersion education center (founded 1998) offering bilingual summer camps alongside its preschool and after-school programs. A Reggio Emilia-inspired bilingual camp serves children 18 months to TK exploring science, art, music, and literacy, while a Spanish-immersion camp for ages 6–11 uses weekly themes, hands-on projects, and cultural activities to build Spanish skills. Camps emphasize immersion and cultural awareness.

Powered by GoogleWe have known Welcome Amigos School for over 5 years now. We have been really happy with the education and care that they provided to our two kids. They both did not speak any Spanish before starting, which was not a problem for them to learn, have fun and thrive. The teachers are amazing and care a lot about the kids. They helped us with potty training which was super helpful! There are lots of activities organized for the kids and for which parents are often invited (particularly shows done by the kids). We also found that the teachers provide great educational foundations for the kids so they can be well prepared to start kindergarten. In addition, very helpful for working parents who can not take days off easily, Welcome Amigos offers camps at different times of the year. We know it is one of the priciest options around but it is worth it. We highly recommend Welcome Amigos as a preschool!
We have had a wonderful experience with this Spanish immersion preschool. My son started attending when he was 2 years old, and since then he has learned so much—not only Spanish, but also important social skills and independence. He has grown more confident and truly enjoys going to school every day. The teachers are caring, patient, and dedicated, and my son absolutely loves them. I also really appreciate that the program supports parents as well by sharing helpful guidance and strategies we can use at home. We feel very supported as a family and are grateful to be part of this school. Highly recommend!
Welcome Amigos has been a wonderful place for my grandkids to thrive in a loving environment while becoming fluent in Spanish. It is so great to hear my grandkids converse in Spanish with everyone they meet. They have also really enjoyed the as singing and dancing performances for each holiday as have we. The teachers have been so sweet and have taken care of the kids as their own. If you are considering a Spanish immersion school, I highly recommend you look at Welcome Amigos.
Welcome amigos is a great environment and community! When looking for a spanish immersion program welcome amigos stood out to me. Their curriculum is excellent and really prepared my daughter for kindergarten . In addition, I love that they mix fun and educational activities for the children . The teachers and staff are caring and truly care about the families. I sent my eldest daughter to welcome amigos and now my son is a student there. I plan on sending my youngest there when she is old enough ( 18 months). Thank you !
Our son comes here for the after school program and loved it so much that he asked to come for an additional day. The teachers and staff are very warm and loving, which makes him look forward to coming to class. He had previously been unwilling to speak Spanish at home (his dad is a native speaker), but is very keen to speak it at school, which is great! The after school program is mixed ages and mixed levels, and it gives him the opportunity to learn from other kids, but also (in the future) help others. He loves all of his classmates and the staff. They also have weekend and holiday (winter break, fall break, summer break) programs, which we haven't tried yet, but will definitely sign up for when he has gaps in his schedule.
