My partners daughter attended an overnight camp with Wasatch camp this summer. We were not sure it was a great fit for her based on some reports from friends about this camp but it was out of our control as her mother insisted. It was not a good experience with the counselors. She loved the other kids and a couple of the counselors. she also said the bus driver is really great. However she's reporting things I'm not comfortable with concerning the main counselors. Angry and just not great with kids IMO. I tried to call the main office but I haven't heard anything back. I don't think they care. I know they will disagree but we are very unhappy with what she's telling us and how upset she was after. Maybe if you have a cool kid they seem to like those types of kids better and then maybe it would be a great experience but not for all kids. and to me camp is for kids who aren't just one of the cool kids. Good luck if you choose to send your kids here.

I am so intensely grateful for and impressed with this company. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND. This was my 7-year-old son's first year. Attempts to send him to summer "camp" with other organizations previous years failed. He simply wasn't getting the stimulus and CARE that he needed. When WKC was recommended to me this year by his aunt, I thought, "Why not try it?" *fingers crossed* I could not be happier. He is excited for camp every day. It's clear to me from how he feels after camp each day and the micro interactions that I see him have with the counselors there that WKC is about much more than just simply keeping kids busy while their parents work. They care about those kids, and for my son that is even more important than program schedule. The program schedule itself is out of this world--diverse, active, educational, and FUN. He also makes friends easily there. Every day it's evident to me that it has been worth every penny for the investment in him.

As a father, I would never send my kids to Wasatch Kids Camp again. My wife left a very thorough review but in the camps response to her review they lied which lead me to add a review as well. The lead counselor was angry, overwhelmed, and didn’t follow basic safety or fairness protocols. She shamed my kids, embarrassed them and manipulated them. We later found out she is second in command of the entire operation, which says a lot about how this place is run and it’s more than just one bad summer staff member. They irresponsibly gave my younger son medication that was meant for his older brother to take home and was lost, even though we gave clear instructions for it to be kept safe and returned to an adult. This is also their protocol that medication be handed between adults yet they didn’t follow their own rule by giving them to an 11 year old. That is dangerous and unacceptable. There isn’t a camp in the United States that would ever put medication into the hands of a child to be responsible for. We’ve since heard from other families that this camp has really gone downhill in the recent years. We got a full refund and the admin agreed that we had a very bad experience and things weren’t handled well but they have done nothing to make changes with their staff and are allowing a woman who is clearly not cut out to be a counselor continue in her leadership role leading overnight camps and in leadership overseeing the camps as a whole. My own personal interactions with her backed up everything my kids said about her temper, chaotic approach and inability to lead a safe and caring overnight camp. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, especially not for overnight trips that involve driving a distance away from home and camping. This is also a camp not meant for kids who are shy or need confidence.

When you send your children to camp, especially overnight camp, you’re placing a huge amount of trust in the people running it. You hope your kids will be safe, supported, encouraged, and come home with unforgettable positive memories. My boys attend multiple camps each summer and had just returned from a two week overnight camp in North Carolina where they thrived. They came home from the NC camp refreshed, confident, and excited to go back next year as well as a personal invite from the director that they return because it was such a positive experience for everyone That was my hope for Wasatch Kids Camp. And my expectation. Instead, my boys came home from Wasatch feeling broken, shamed, confused, and honestly, a bit traumatized. This was not just a disappointing experience, it was a harmful one. To our shock, the lead counselor responsible for their group (and one of the supporting counselors) demonstrated behavior that no child should be subjected to at camp. She was overwhelmed, reactive, frequently raised her voice, lost her cool, showed blatant favoritism, contradicted herself, and gaslit my kids, manipulating my youngest against my oldest son, who is much more shy and insecure. We even experienced this personally while on the phone with her, she was frantic and overwhelmed by this responsibility of running a camp. That’s not safe. Protocols were not followed, and the environment she created was disorganized, emotionally unsafe, and deeply unsettling. On top of all of this, and in the middle of that chaos, they lost my son’s very important medication, which I had personally handed over to staff with clear instructions. He ended up going days without his medications until we could get it replaced as some of it is from a compound pharmacy. That is not just careless, it is dangerous. This is not just poor leadership, it is a serious safety issue. What’s worse is that, despite these serious issues, which the camp acknowledged was a problem multiple times in emails and over the phone, this individual remains in a leadership role. I truly thought after our many conversations and the camps response they would remove her from this role. We were issued a full refund, and the camp admitted in writing that the situation was not handled well. They also claimed that her behavior and her response is not typical for their camp counselors yet they have kept her in leadership. That alone should have warranted serious staff changes. Yet here we are, and nothing has changed. I hadn’t planned to leave a public review until I learned that the person at the center of all of this remains in charge of overnight camps. I was going to go away quietly until they admitted no changes will be made. That is why I am posting this now, as a warning to other parents. Are they short of staff? Poor leadership? This is not about a bad day or a personality conflict. This is about a failure to protect the emotional and physical well-being of children entrusted to their care. Wasatch Kids Camp may have a long history, but based on our experience, I cannot recommend this camp to any family. The trust we gave was broken, and the leadership failed to take accountability. If you are considering sending your children to Wasatch, please think twice. Your kids deserve better.

Wasatch Kids Camp is fantastic! It’s reasonably priced, I love the full-day hours for working parents, and they have amazing activities for the kids. They spend a lot of time outdoors and get to do so many fun field trips and adventures. It keeps my daughter busy and active over the summer and she looks forward to it every year. She has made some amazing friends that she’s kept over the years. The counselors are great and they offer week-long travel camps too. The all day reservoir days keep her very happy! They are also electronic/cell phone free which I like, and they post weekly pictures of the activities. Highly recommend!
