Powered by GoogleI sadly was very disappointed with my experience at the YMCA, as I am a Wadsworth resident. On the positive side, they do offer a host of different classes that come with your membership. I just could not look over several downsides: the first being the equipment. There aren’t many machines, and the ones they do have are definitely starting to wear. For $60 dollars a month, I feel the seats should not be visibly ripped and tattered. There was a tricep pulldown machine that was down for nearly a month. That can be looked over, but really the most difficult thing to deal with is the school kids. I understand they are just kids, but many kids come after school (3:00) and generally cause havoc. They mess around with eachother and other patrons, and nobody seems to stop them at all. It got the point where I did not want to come because I knew they just want to mess with everyone. The staff tries their best, but there is just not enough supervision/ repercussions to the kids’ actions. The locker rooms are always in disarray. I just don’t think dealing with all of that is worth the high price point sadly.
Organized, helpful staff, nice facilities and productive parking and traffic patterns! This was our first trip here, after enrolling our kiddos in swim lessons and it was seamless. Very impressed with the facility and staff.
We recently joined this YMCA and were excited to try pickleball, but unfortunately our experience has been disappointing. On two separate occasions, a group of older men repeatedly interrupted us, tried to “correct” us on rules we did not ask for, and ultimately pressured us off the courts. The atmosphere felt unwelcoming and more like dealing with the pickleball police than enjoying a community activity. If there are specific rules, rotations, or designated times for open play vs. lessons, those should be clearly posted and enforced by staff — not left to members policing one another. We joined the YMCA expecting an inclusive, beginner-friendly environment, and hope this is something management takes seriously.
"I'm very disappointed with the current environment in the basketball gym. The YMCA claims to be a 'safe place, but it doesn't feel safe when people are constantly swearing and being aggressive toward each other on the court. This behavior violates the YMCA Member Code of Conduct regarding respectful language. I hope management starts enforcingthe rules so this can be a 'happy' and welcoming spot for all members again.
Has everything you could want. Indoor track, huge aerobics room, locker rooms with showers, a well-equipped strength training room, indoor and outdoor pools, four basketball courts, and lots and lots of programs year-round. And childcare! It's definitely busy during and after rush hour when everyone comes after work at once, but if you have the flexibility to come on the right days and at the right hours, you can have it almost all to yourself. And the high volume of customers is a testament to what a good gym it is! I've never encountered any staff who were anything but friendly. As long as you're following the rules on the signs and practicing basic gym etiquette, I can't imagine having a problem. They've been very helpful with every inquiry I've had. I've shopped around for a good gym for a few months, and I've never seen such a complete one with everything I wanted -- and for a cheaper membership price than some of the others I checked out in Wadsworth! I'll be a loyal member for life, Lord willing.
