Powered by GoogleI was really excited to try this place. But then I learned that they don’t have auto belays, nor do they have staff that will belay people. The website said that they would help you find a climbing partner, but when I called I was told that I could either boulder or bring a friend. I was new to the area and had no one that I could ask, so that was the end of my Vertical Adventures journey.
My son attended a week long summer camp and had a blast! The camp counselors did a great job keeping the kiddos engaged, encouraged, and inspired to try new things and make friends. My son came home each day with a smile and had better self confidence on the wall.
My Fiancée and I came in closer to closing time and bought a summer membership, but unfortunately there weren’t any more classes for us to learn proper belaying for top rope. However, Jude came to our rescue and told us he could squeeze us in and give us a lesson. We were very happy that Jude was able to help us out, the class he taught us was educational and he sprinkled in a bit of comedy too to make the class more enjoyable. My Fiancée and I even got to climb for a bit before leaving and we’re looking forward to using the summer pass!
It’s a very good climbing gym. They use GriGris that are attached to the rope. The rental harnesses are actually decent Petzl brand ones. The shoes are regular Evolv gym shoes. The bathrooms are small. The lighting is good here and it has a good atmosphere feeling. The building interior and the climbing holds are clean. The route set rating on the boulders are on the softer side compared to Movement Santa Clara (CA). The route set rating on top rope matches Movement Sunnyvale (CA). Their route setting is good and fun. If I lived in Ohio I’d get a membership.
I first saw photos of Jarad's guided climbing experiences years ago, and was so excited to join him on a trip recently in Joshua Tree National Park. I've known Jarad Stiles since we attended high school near Lake Tahoe together. I was so impressed to see him turn his life long passion for climbing and exploration into an outlet for others to share in those outdoor experiences. Jarad has a gift for bringing people together, which has been a characteristic of his since we were younger, but it is remarkably demonstrated while guiding newcomers to the world of rock climbing. Myself and the others in our guide group were made to feel safe, confident, and stoked regardless of our previous experience or fitness level. He was very knowledgeable about the area we explored and encouraged us to take on different routes that would be the perfect level of challenge for each person. I had a ton of fun testing myself on the rock as well as learning about the gear, culture, lifestyle, and even geology that Jarad was well versed in. Truly a day I'll never forget. Please give yourself the opportunity to go play outside with Jarad and Vertical Adventures!
