A Game-Changer for Gamer Kids (and Their Parents!) We recently had the chance to visit Valhallan Esports Training Center on a hosted tour, and within minutes I found myself doing something I never expected—I signed my kid up. With my actual credit card. The one I try not to bring into Target. That’s how good it was. Like a lot of parents, I struggle with balancing my kid’s love for gaming with my deep-seated instinct to scream “turn off the screen and go touch grass!” But Valhallan somehow gets it right. It’s not just gaming—it’s structured, educational, skill-based esports training that teaches respect, communication, teamwork, leadership, and even physical wellness. Yes, they literally take breaks to stretch, run drills, and talk about healthy habits. Touching grass included. It felt like walking into a traditional sports practice… if it smelled less like cleats and more like a freshly booted server room. The staff is phenomenal—supportive, encouraging, and clearly passionate about helping kids thrive. And the opportunities this opens up? Scholarships, career paths, and skills that translate way beyond the screen. If you have a tween or teen who loves gaming, do not sleep on this. We had my son's 10th birthday party here. We would highly recommend Valhallan for a new and unique party venue for anyone who loves gaming. The team worked with my son and friends - helping those players that needed it and cheering everyone on. There were some minor computer issues and they quickly addressed this one station to correct so everyone could play together. They created unique maps which the kids really loved and made the play fair for everyone (even new players). For us as parents, we really did not have to do much except supply some light snacks and prizes (we chose Vbuck gift cards for game winners to make it easy). They played music, put my son's name up on the screens and there was space for some non-playing attendees to sit and chat. They also had stations available for "free play" for anyone attending that did not play the game we chose (Fortnite). An added bonus was that I could offer for parents to drop of their kids and they enjoyed a "date afternoon" around the corner at Evergrain while the kids had fun at the party! A huge thank you to the team for making this a fun day for all!
