Urban Roots is a Reno nonprofit teaching farm whose Summer Kid Camp (ages 5-9) guides children through garden-based, seed-to-table learning on themes such as bugs, cooking, sustainability, art and engineering. A Summer Young Farmers Camp for older youth emphasizes leadership and week-long projects, and a parent-child Little Gardeners program serves ages 2-4.

My children have absolutely loved farm school! They’ve learned more than I ever could about gardening, plant sciences, animal sciences, and self sufficiency than I could have ever taught them. The farmers are so good with the kids, and make their time enjoyable. We will absolutely be continuing to attend!

This is a wonderful learning farm and I saw lots of beautiful flowers.

Terrible, unfortunate, unprofessional are some of the words to describe this camp. Please do not send your kiddos to this organization. Such a great concept overwhelmed by disorganized leadership. Our poor camper was told she could not make up her experience due to the refund policy. A true heartbreak for her and our family. Hoping this org chooses a better path forward.

This school and camp are a tremendous asset to our family and the whole community. They genuinely care for the children and are well organized. I love that the kids can spend the whole day outdoors exploring; picking fresh, organic food off the plant to rinse and eat. A literal farm to table experience. My daughter loves it here and said she learns a lot. She now knows more than I do about composting They take the safety of children and their families seriously while maintaining an upbeat, fun and positive experience.
