I walk at Whitehead Park every morning. And every morning the trash gets heavier and thicker. I know that there are Park officials that get paid to pick up the trash and keep the park clean. It looks like they need to do better. I pick up the trash when I come here and it's getting worse everyday

I love living in Tulsa but what I don’t like is seeing on a regular basis homeless folks living in the Sequoia park. They use it as a restroom, trash dump and a place to do drugs and have sex on the kids playground equipment. Woman an children are afraid to walk the park alone from this neighborhood. We had another Domestic violence attack at the park today. Fires at night, riding motorcycles in the park and golf carts. Neighbors have made regular calls and reports over the last 6 months. Police officer today stated there could be 100 people living in the trees and bushes and we’d never know it’s so overgrown. We the people are willing to help and volunteer and cut and prune the park ourselves no charge. Please let’s work together to take back Sequoia park. The good people of this neighborhood are tired but scared. I was threatened today for helping a woman being attacked and now they all know where I live and have made threats. I’m pleading with you folks at the parks department let’s work together now like this coming Monday and clean up this park. It’s not a question of if but when is someone going to die or a child gets assaulted in this park?

If I could give zero stars I would. We rented a gazebo through the city at a nearby park. We examined the area several days before and noticed trash, cigarette butts, and foot tall grass. I reached out to Anna America, who is in charge of the park department numerous times and did not receive any correspondence back. Its aggravating having someone in this position that does not take the time to reach out to constituents she represents. We went ahead and paid a company to come out and take care of the area. Zero stars for Anna America.

Update: I called on Tuesday about some dead wildlife in two different City of Tulsa Parks and the dead wildlife has not been removed as of Saturday. It is a bit frustrating that it is taking so long. Just spoke with Kris (maybe Chris), a 311 operator and she was very kind! I had seen some dead wildlife at a few of the Tulsa City parks and wanted to call so someone could come out and clean them up and Kris allowed me to take my time to try and explain in as much detail as possible exactly where they were located. I'm not great with directions but I explained the surrounding areas and details I thought would help them to locate the animals and she fully listened and typed up every detail and submitted the clean up tickets while on the phone with me. I'm very appreciative of her kindness and of the City of Tulsa for allowing people to call in to help in keeping our parks clean.

The Gathering Place is indeed incredible. The vast majority of city parks are extremely close to highways or busy streets and consist of playgrounds surrounded by paved paths. Since there aren’t very many good alternatives, the gathering place is packed on the weekends. I moved from Gwinnett county Georgia, where there are 15 to 20 parks have a substantial size with paved in nature trails in most. Tulsa parks have been a big disappointment to me.
