Thronateeska Heritage Center runs full-day summer camps for ages 7-12 at its downtown Albany campus, 9am-3pm, with free early drop-off from 8:30am and late pick-up available until 6pm. Each camp day includes a visit to the center's aquarium or science museum plus animal encounters, science experiments, games and a snack, and campers get a reusable water bottle and a camp t-shirt. The center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit incorporated in 1974 for historic preservation and science education in Albany and southwest Georgia; members get 10% off camp sessions and half-price after-camp care.

★★Renee HansenWe were excited to visit the Heritage Center after reading the rave reviews. Sadly, it didn't meet our expectations. The staff member was not welcoming and over half the space was devoid of any type of exhibits. We were told it was empty until they decide what to put there next. We paid $21 for 4 adults and the only thing on display was a small exhibit about Ellis Island. We paid extra for entrance to the planetarium which was a good experience. Many reviews mentioned the train, but it was only viewable from quite a distance through several fences.
