Powered by GoogleIt was an awesome experience- we painted some ceramics and had a grand time just being together and creating. The staff was very helpful and informative.
My boyfriend and I had a coffee date at the Willow Cafe and decided on a whim we would walk into The Purple Penguin. Initially we were just curious about the colorful business but after talking to Malek, we were definitely convinced to tap into our inner artist and paint some pottery. Malek was so fun, so knowledgeable and so helpful. He called it "an art restaurant" and that's exactly what it is. This was such a fun experience and it was the perfect end to a perfect date. I can't wait to come back with my kiddo. Thanks again Malek you were awesome!
We took the Friday evening pottery throwing class and we had such a good time!! I would love to do it again. Helpful things to know: - you can bring your own drinks (including alcoholic drinks) - once the teacher’s demo is over, you can make as many pieces as you want, until they stop supplying you clay because you won’t have time to finish a piece - one of your pottery pieces is included with the cost of the class. If you want to keep additional pieces, they’re $9 each unless you use more clay in the piece. They’ll charge $4.50 to add a handle to a mug. If you make smaller pieces (like a ring dish), it will cost less to keep the piece. - the fancy glazes cost $10 more to use. It’s just $10 no matter how many you use or how many pieces you use them on. (Don’t worry, you can still make your piece look beautiful without them.) - you have to wait 7 days to glaze/paint, and then another 7 for them to be fired. (Not the class for a short trip.) So, be prepared to spend more than $40. Add on for other pieces, handles, glazes, & tip. But cost aside, we had a blast! The time flew by and working with the clay was relaxing and very enjoyable. The teacher is very good and her assistants have helpful suggestions.
First time visit here with my family and brother and his wife from out of state. This was an awesome family night! Purple Penguin staff was so nice and attentive to anything we needed. We brought a bottle of wine for the adults and ordered pizza from Peppers right down the corner. We got there around 630p, ate some pizza, drank a glass of wine, and finished all our blank canvases by 9p. I highly recommend doing this as a family. Great memory and we have some additional artwork to hang in our house.
Where do I even begin? The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. They offer fun pottery classes that are very interactive and exciting. There is never a dull moment at the studio! The girls at the studio are a total hoot and this place is awesome. If you think of it, they can make it happen!!!! P.s. Always remember to tip the Purple Penguin staff because they have earned it!
