The Little Gym of Smyrna

I have taken my toddler to the little gym of Smyrna several times and she absolutely loves it! Their membership prices are expensive and geared towards once a week classes, which doesn’t always work for parents who work full-time and may not want to, or be able to, take their child to a class every week, and are already paying for full-time childcare. For that reason I really appreciated that they offered a drop in option when there was space. However, I’ve recently learned they no longer offer drop ins and are membership only. I wish there was a package membership, where you could buy a certain number of classes to use per year, rather than only monthly membership options. Our experience in class has been 5 stars, but the change in flexibility to attend classes is disappointing.

Some of the most well trained staff I’ve ever seen. It’s really impressive how every instructor remembers every child’s name. They are very welcoming and great with steering your kid back in when they space out or are having a bad day. It’s great to keep your kiddos moving and this is a great way to do it.

I didn’t think I’d need a court order to see my own child’s attendance records. My 5yo has been at this studio for about 3 years I’ve been an involved parent the whole time and the staff knows I’m the dad. After my ex and I separated, I wasn’t the one bringing her on to class anymore. After a while my daughter told me she hadn’t been going much, so I called the studio to request her attendance history. I was told they wouldn’t share anything because I’m “not on the account” and only the account holder (my ex) could approve it. When I said I’d pursue a court order to give me access, the conversation escalated quickly and I was accused of “threatening” the manager, with talk of calling the police on me. I swear this was out of the blue and totally unwarranted. I have that conversation recorded. I went in person later that day and tried again. I was told the answer was still no unless my ex approved. She declined, so I spent two months getting a court order. Only then did the studio provide me my child's records. Once I got the records, they did indeed show that my kid missed more than half of her classes. I used those records to have the court switch one of my custody days to Monday and now my kid won't miss anymore classes. I’m leaving this review because a children’s business should have a clear, respectful process for handling requests from either legal parent (verify ID, request documentation if needed, and de-escalate). This didn’t need to become a conflict. It cost me around $2,500 to get that order. I'm considering using the recordings I have of my conversations with the studio to bring a lawsuit against them as well so cause them to have legal policies in place and not illegal ones. I hope ownership updates the policy and trains staff so other parents don’t have to go through this, but if not, I will probably take them to court as well

We have been coming to The Little Gym of Smyrna for almost 2 years and love here. Coach Zandy is super fun and engaging with all the kids. Definitely would recommend to any parent looking for a fun and safe place for their kid to run some energy out.

The staff is very nice and warm. The facility is nice and clean. But, they allow too many people inside during the “explore” period that definitely takes away from my enjoyment as a parent. Feel like it’s questionable safety at times due to too many adults and constantly having to watch yourself and your kid (and other kids) so none of them get stepped on. They should really re-consider their policies on how many adults are allowed during peak classes. 25+ adults is too many for one studio Update: had a very encouraging chat with the owner. She was incredibly empathetic, listened to my concerns, etc. Hoping the changes she plans to implement solves the problem.
