The Hive DGO is a nonprofit youth community hub in Durango that runs a nine-week summer day program for kids roughly ages 8-16. Its Wild Hive Day Camp offers outdoor trips and exploration, skateboarding lessons (the Hive has an indoor skate park), and art and music workshops focused on self-expression. The organization serves under-resourced youth and provides full or partial scholarships to most participants.

Why would you put a kids hang out right next to a pot shop? Not a place I will have my kid go.

This place blows! They restrict anyone who isn’t homosexual or trans on specific nights. For a group that preaches as well as advocates for inclusivity and diversity, they treated me and my friends incredibly poorly on these “gay nights” or “trans nights”. And after we claimed that we identified as such they had no respect for it. Laughed in our face and kicked us out. So tired of this LGBTQ community constantly feening to be included and as soon as the door is open they want to discard anyone who isn’t like them. Skating isn’t just for gay people on certain nights, it’s for everyone every day! Do better. Would also like to let it be known that I have many gay friends equally as pissed off about this bull crap.

Difficult to find. Coming from the north (which you need to do) go through the light and turn right after Back Country Experience. Park in back and enter through the side door

Phenomenal program. The staff are so amazing with the summer camp kiddos and my son has built so much confidence and new skills in just a couple days of attending. Thank you for providing an inclusive and welcoming place for our kids!

We have been searching for a summer activity for our son and really had a challenging time finding a place he fit in. He is neurodivergent and he just wasn’t successful in the other programs we tried. We enrolled him with The Hive this summer and he absolutely loved it! The staff were so responsive to him and equipped to pivot when he was overstimulated and needed to refocus. Their compassionate approach to children has made a huge difference for our son, and I highly recommend their programs to any parent or guardian looking for something different.
