The Encore Center at 160 E. New Hampshire Avenue in downtown Southern Pines is Moore County's performing arts center, offering classes and performances in dance, music, theatre and art. Its summer camps run June through August at its Southern Pines and Cameron locations for children from about age three through high school, and span full-scale theatrical production camps (Kiss Me Kate, The Music Man JR., Pirates Past Noon JR.) and weekly themed camps in acro, jazz, culinary arts and visual art. The center brings in visiting professionals from around the country and states an aim of keeping training affordable.

★★★★★Deanna DubyThis is such a happy and healthy place. The other students welcomed my almost 10yo and my 7yo who had no dance experience. There was no cliquishness and everyone has been friendly. Dress code is appropriate for children (nothing sexy allowed thank goodness), staff is friendly and excellent at communication, and they offer a wide variety of dance, music, and performance options. So different from the toxic dance culture you see on TV.
