Tennis Memphis is unlike most tennis organizations. It's rare in its mission and also the people that make it up. This includes the employees AND the players who play there. When adult or juniors play at TM, they play for more than just an organization; they support a community. Every time someone plays, donates, or volunteers at Tennis Memphis, they are helping to provide time and resources to a worthwhile mission. I participated in hours of various meetings within TM and all are geared toward delivering the best possible product and services to the public. These can be meetings with coaches, front desk staff, or other employees, and yet all are focused on building the best possible product and experience that allows TM help the community in a sustainable way. One example is to just head down to Eldon Roark Tennis Center and check out Chris at the desk. He looks after that building like it's his home and after the players like they are his own. One night, we hosted an event on a Saturday night for a group of ladies. The parking lot lights were out, so he showed up (he wasn't working that day) with a flashlight and walked each to their car when they finished up. Tracy who does the bookkeeping has popped on the court many times to lend a hand in helping coach. I needed to replace the divider net clips which is a two-person job, and sure enough she volunteers to help. Average coaches give their best to only their best players or when others may be watching, but go check out Coach Chip on a random weekday with a beginner at Raleigh... He will bring more juice and excitement to a typical lesson than most do on their best day. I could give lots more examples of employees going above and beyond what their role asks of them just to serve others. The point is those that work and play with Tennis Memphis are rare... they are part of a community that takes care of others while growing the sport. If you are in the Memphis area, I highly encourage you to play with Tennis Memphis or find ways to get involved!

My family first became involved with Tennis Memphis through their summer kids camps — my children had a blast and wanted to keep playing. We started signing them up for after school sessions and have loved watching them grow as players. So much so that the adults in the house decided they needed to learn how to play tennis! Now we all play all the time! The teaching TM provides is excellent. For a very beginner / non-tennis player TM offered a learning environment that was not intimidating and instructors who were clearly skilled and also encouraging. We have made friends from all over the city and all walks of life and are so grateful for this community!
