As a parent, when three of my kids asked to go on mission trips last summer, I was proud of their decision but it was very difficult to let go of the reins and entrust them to strangers for 6 weeks. We are a family who had never even had babysitters except for close family when they were little. My husband had been a team member for 4 summers back in the 80’s and it was definitely a pivotal time in his life. He often reminisced about his time at Teen Missions and how it changed his life. I had to remind myself that my children are God’s children first, on loan to me. If my children were willing and even excited to step out of their comfort zone and make a stand for The Father, surely I could muster up enough courage to trust Him to watch over them. I also felt comfortable with the practices and precautions that TMI had set in place to ensure their safety. In the end it was a good decision. Last summer challenged my children physically, emotionally, and most of all spiritually. They came home with an even stronger resolve in their faith. I have seen them present a boldness to speak truth in love to those they encounter when faith enters the conversation. They even initiate in some cases. Yes, they all experienced challenges in different ways but I would say the reward far exceeded the fatigue, exhaustion, or homesickness. They were stretched in various ways and, in my opinion, that is something that is rare for this generation. We look forward to several more years with Teen Missions and are excited to see what The Lord has in store.

Our kids will have gone on a combined 6 overseas mission trips with Teen Missions after this summer. It's hard for parents no doubt to say goodbye for the summer, but they all returned stronger in their faith and as individuals every-time they've returned home! We wish the communication was better (our own selfishness) but the kids truly thrive in the independent space that it creates, and so we're all in on the 5-stars!

Both my son and daughter have gone on a Teen Missions trip - one in the summer of 2024, the other 2025. What an experience! They kids learned so much, saw the world, and grew as Christ followers. As a parent, it was easy to send them. TMI is so organized and orderly that I wasn't worried at all about them as they traveled. My aunts and dad and brothers went to Teen Missions, and in 2023, I made the life changing choice to go to Guatemala pre-teen team with Teen Missions. I felt so out of balance because I didn't even know if I believed in God. I finally fell to my knees, and at my lowest pit filled with tears of sorrow, I finally knew that Jesus was the only way. With much guidance from my leaders, I was saved right under the "Big Top!" My team worked at a small school for missionary kids in Antigua, Guatemala. It was hard work, but I got up every day knowing that it was for the LORD. The next year, I went to Germany, but it was nothing that I expected. God blessed me with an amazing team and leaders. I looked up to every single one of the kids on the team as one of the youngest, and I got to learn so much. I helped Ukrainian refugees that we're teenagers like us Americans. I had a new perspective on people in need and how the Lord is chasing their heart as much as He is mine. Without Teen Missions, I don't know what I'd be doing right now. The Lord is working through this ministry day and night. There's been like 50,000 kids who've had their lives changed by this organization, and you can be one of them. It's definitely not easy, and it takes a lot of faith. But if you're willing to put in the work, the LORD will remember the seeds you plant and the lost sheep you helped get. Take this chance to serve the Lord with Teen Missions. You won't regret it.
