Talisman Camp

Okay so I went to this camp many years ago, it was either 2009 or 2010, I can't remember, generally, it was a good experience. They definitely have some fun activities and a fairly positive atmosphere, they had a talent night and the food is actually really good, if you don't like something that they cook. You can opt to say no, thank you and they will give you a tiny bit, unless you are allergic to something. Now on the negative side, they aren't very accommodating for people who are obese or struggling with weight issues, i personally ran into quite a few issues on the hiking trip. I will soon also warn you that it is extremely expensive, i think the program was about five thousand dollars when I went so I can only imagine what it is now. I would never try to dissuade anyone from going to this camp, but I will say if your child is overweight or struggles with any kind of weight related issues i would be careful.Which program you signed them up for.

Hey, I’m going to share my experience but I tell you now, When I was going to that camp I was hungry and homesick, However, that camp is a little dirty to me and it was having a lot of bugs that bother me a lot, so yeah it’s not really a good camp.

While this camp was fun. There were times where the people who watched the group got really power hungry for control. They also make you write a letter if you killed a bug or take a small pebble. Very stupid. While the time i spent here was fun when i was younger. I can not forget how traumatic it also was because they don’t allow you to eat till 30 minutes later if you come late. If you come late you eat late and eat outside as punishment. I’m not sure if they changed these rules, but this is what I remembered when being here as a kid.

Our experience with Talisman Camp was profoundly disappointing and concerning. We enrolled our son, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder - Level 1, expecting a nurturing environment tailored to his needs. Unfortunately, the reality was far from what was promised. The camp assured us that our son would be placed with peers on a similar developmental level. This was not the case, as he was grouped with children who had significantly different and more severe needs, which isolated him and impeded any potential social interaction. To add insult to injury, the hygiene conditions at the camp were appalling. Our son returned home with multiple bed bug bites, clustered in a manner inconsistent with typical mosquito bites and confirmed by medical professionals as bed bug bites. Despite this, the camp's initial response was to dismissively claim they were mosquito bites, which not only contradicts the medical opinion but also reflects a concerning level of negligence and lack of accountability. Given these issues—misrepresentation of peer grouping and inadequate responses to serious hygiene problems—I strongly advise parents to reconsider enrolling their children at Talisman Camp. This experience was not only far below our expectations but also turned out to be traumatic for our family.

There are so many superlatives related to Talisman that I could go on for paragraphs. This is the most caring, careful, organized, fun, place in the universe, with well trained and supportive staff. Our son has been going for 10 years. His growth, maturation and good behavior has been developed and nurtured here, while having an incredible time. LOVE it and them, (so does our son, looking forward to returning every summer). the character they have built will stay with him all his days.
