I thought that sending my boys ages 7 & 8 to summer camp in Sylvania would be the safest option for summer care. Bonus points because it's right down the street from my place of employment. We had multiple complaints from our children of other kids physically and mentally bullying them. Rather it be older kids around 12-13 years old pushing, pulling, and hitting our kid in the chest. To bullying them over play shoes they wear to camp, other clothing, as well as their teeth. Mind you my kids used to be home schooled so they are rather shy and just coming out socially only to feel humiliated and embarrassed by their peers with nobody to advocate for their safety here! Since the counselors like to play buddies with the older crowd. The camp counselors always act like they've had a great day. It's when we leave my children tell me what really went on here so I let Miss Ava know in the mornings. One time I went back in to ask the kid why he put his hands on my son. The counselor Brandon wanted to blurt out right away I didn't say anything because I thought they were playing. When my husband picked them up the next day to discuss the situation the other counselor told my husband that it was my son's fault. I pick them up the next day and all 3 counselors at pick up want to pretend like my son was throwing turf all week long at other kids and not listening, but couldn't say anything sooner. It seemed like I was being deceived. When asked my son told me he did it on Monday and Tuesday only after someone threw it at him first. He told me when he tells the counselors what someone else has done he's told to stop talking back. If you ask any teacher at their present school they will tell you we have really sweet respectable boys. So these complaints of my boys are taken seriously. When I first toured here with the supervisor that was only present during sign in on the first week of camp he told me he hired teachers and such. Most of the counselors are super young. This does effect the way they interact with children as well as parents for a few I've noticed. One male in particular said some pretty sick stuff to my son. Words he never heard before that he asked what they meant. We will be coming to discuss all of this with a supervisor! I would 100% not trust these people with your innocent children. Our week has been ruined after our sons came out and told us all the traumatizing things they endured. $1,500 the past 5 weeks and this is the type of care my children receive!?! We are beyond angry and our children are relieved they don't have to return to here. When asked they will tell you they like soccer, basketball, and dodge ball. What they didn't like is the bullying and them being the ones getting in trouble for being bullied!!!

I grew up playing in this league and have had my kids involved, until this past year. 0 care about the kids and all about the parent drama. Won't honor requests to play with the same team you have been playing with for 2 years. The people in charge are just their for a paycheck, and will say whatever is easiest to "handle" the situation rather then doing what is going to better the kids, management needs a big change, remember your there to provide a service and this isn't the type of service any Sylvania resident would expect. Thank God they aren't involved with the JCC expansion. Vote No on anything involving Sylvania Rec unless some serious changes are made!!
