I was looking for a good place to breakup a road trip around here and stretch our legs for a bit. It was perfect for that. I had called ahead for info beforehand and followed the idea the guy gave me to get some takeout and bring it in for a picnic. We had a lovely picnic at a shaded table and then walked a bit around the area. I do wish their visitors center was open, or that the house tour was available. He said Audubon had restructured things and they’re down to only two employees now, which is a bummer. But the area is lovely if you’re looking to take a pretty walk.

Only complaint is trails weren’t marked very well, and they unfortunately do not allow doggos. Still a beautiful place to hike and watch nature!

I had a nice time waking the trails here by myself. There was only one other couple there the entire time I was hiking. I did the orange loop (about 1.5) miles and visited the cemeteries and creek bed. Not a difficult hike and really enjoyable but the interpretive displays are really in need of refreshing and sometimes I want sure if I was on the trail or just wandering the woods. Nice way to spend a few hours or a day. I plan to go back for a longer trail hike soon. Watch for cotton mouths!

Stopped here to check it out during an afternoon and glad we did. The gentleman there gave us a lot of local and site info. My son is really into birds and he gave him a bird book. The area is a nice walk and there is lots to see. Will be back when we have more time!

Expansive place! I've been for the hummingbird festival and there's so much to see. A cabin, an historic house, pretty trails, plains. It's a great place and it does great work! Be sure to bring your binoculars.
