Powered by GoogleThis camp is absolutely incredible. My son went three summers. He did one week his first and second summer and two weeks his last summer. He has many challenges- adhd, OCD and Tourette syndrome among them. Jud and the camp counselors were incredibly welcoming and just normal with my son. He did the mountain biking masters option all three years and still bikes with a couple of the guys he met at camp. SMA was one of the best things we did for our son!
I feel weird leaving a review, considering I was a camper about twenty years ago but I was reminded about it and just wanted to leave some love for this place. SMA was so foundational for me, and I have absolutely nothing but great memories of the grounds, the activities, and the people. The Houldin family was absolutely wonderful, and Jud made sure everybody always had a good day. Truly, cannot recommend SMA enough to any parents looking at these reviews.
This was my son's first year doing sleep away camp. He had a great time with Stone Mountain Adventures. It's a relatively small camp in terms of numbers, which I think was big plus because it created an environment where the campers, counselors and management staff got to know each other really well. I remember meeting my son near D. C. where the van arrived at the conclusion of camp (a nice feature for out of state families by the way) and seeing him interacting so warmly with the counselors and other kids as they said goodbye. They were really tight after only two weeks. Communication with the camp director, Jud was great. The camp clearly does a great job finding things each camper likes, and giving them a fun, busy, screen-free summer adventure. Very good experience all around.
This camp is the best place to meet new people and create amazing friendships. I spent 3 summers and had so much fun every time. The counselors are doing such a hard work to make the campers feel safe and comfortable, and the activities are so diverse and fun. I recommend this camp more than any others !
SMA has been a truly wonderful camp experience for my teenage son for two summers. It's a terrific opportunity to get outside and spend time with kids from across the world. The staff and counselors are fun, engaging, and responsible. Highly recommended!
