Step by Step is a Charleston-based nonprofit serving disadvantaged children and families across southern West Virginia's coalfields, reaching more than 1,000 kids. Its summer programs, such as sessions at the Kanawha City Community Center, provide free half-day enrichment (about 2:00 to 5:30pm) for elementary students, alongside year-round afterschool and mentoring. Programs are free to participating families.
