STEM Encounters After School and Summer Camp

I feel like the communication could be better Amy was nice but seem to want to charge you even if the kids doesn’t go to the center to secure there spot I’m looking for a center that work more with prorated days for when apt ,vacations of sicknesses occur when your child can’t go .I understand they are a business but the could be more flexible with payments .

Had a horrible experience here. The staff and other kids bullied my 5yr old without anyone intervening. He was left to free play the majority of the day and was usually bored. When we drive by this place my son still says those "those people were mean to me".

This was a horrible experience. STEM activities is a group of 4 to 10 year age range listening to the owner with a puppet for 40 minutes. The ratio of workers to students is low. They accept walk in day care children and they are all combined. They did a partial refund as the 2nd day he had a hard transition and they are not equipped to provide for. Of course this creates an issue of having to provide accommodations last minute. When I spoke to them about their rough discipline policy, the partial refund was issued that day! Also very unprofessional speaking negatively about his Pre-K school. All of this was in front of him, they do not have qualified, experienced staff and it was a day care at best, they do not like concerned parents asking questions or observing. I cannot see how this qualifies as a camp much less a STEM camp. Structure is defiinitely needed but not provided. There is too much 'free' time to be engaged which leads to boredom. The disclpline is 'shaming'. The owner and staff told the child he would have to leave so he met me with his backpack and lunch box, he still repeats that he was told he was 'bad' several weeks later. I witnessed other students telling me he was 'bad' as well, this should not be in their vocabulary. The owner's 'husband' was witnessed throwing chairs back with a red face to roughly pull the 5 year old out who was hiding under the table. He was out of control, even one of the workers tried to intervene by telling him he was hiding to no avail. This is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. The money was finally reimbursed and we will spend quality time with him strengthening his inner confidence from his 2 day experience at this day care. This program would benefit from staff experienced with children and trained in methods to encourage positive development and structured activities designed to do so instead of lumping all ages together and having a 'free frawl'. I reviewed the schedule and there is too much free time for such an age range, and inadequate staff and space to divide activities by age. My observation of one day witnessed 3 to 4 hours of 'free play', not counting free play at the local park which was their 'field trip'. This is advertised as a STEM learning camp and that is a disgrace. Parents should diligent in learning where and what this 'camp' offers.

I was told directly by the owners that they do not have a set way of how they discipline or redirect children with adhd. Is specifics to my child. They told my son to his face that they "just dont know what to do with him". All because he was carelessly handling pieces to a game. He was left at a table alone without any regards as to when his "punishment" was over. When I asked for details about their policies I was told that they have never seen I child like mine in the 20 years they've been servercing childcare. Which is a ridiculous statement to say to a parent...let alone in front of a child. DISGUSTING. Btw my child has been a student at trinity Christian school since pre-k. How is it his behavior holds there but not at STEM Encounters????

Would love to bring our son here. It’s such a cool gem for kids. I had a great experience with drop in at their other site Creative Arts Kids and have had the pleasure to see how STEM Encounters is ran. Great business model! Would highly recommend this program because it is different in comparison to other after school and summer camps. It’s a hybrid of fun, learning and I like how independent the kids are.
