My family and I LOVE Spark! Their commitment to the community of West Central and their larger work to promote creativity and access opportunities for children and young adults does not go unnoticed. My kids have participated in Minecraft club, summer camps, and just regular drop ins for a fantastic book selection and a cool space. Most everything is free or scholarship based by income. A+ place to spend a couple of hours with little ones or catch a grown up book reading or some other live event. The best staff and volunteers. So friendly and welcoming of everyone.

I found out about Spark Central when EWU was doing their Get Lit event, I came in for Spark After Dark and read one of my poems. Now I wander in on Thursday afternoons for Drop in and Write. The positive feedback and constructive criticism I received for the two stories I wrote, and read aloud, was phenomenal! Thank you for providing this outlet for us writers.

I'm so grateful for Spark Central, a special gem in our community. It's a safe space for people of all genders and a neurodivergent-supportive environment. I love coming here to paint and do some co-working. If you haven't had a chance to stop by, I highly recommend it. All ages, genders, and minds are accepted here.

Spark Central has something for adults looking for a book to check out. I found an excellent Stephen King book called "the Institute". I also found excellent movies to watch such as Out of Time w Denzel Washington & Ghandi. They have a lot of variety to enjoy for the parents of the kiddos that come to play! Keep that in mind when you visit Spark Central.

I can't say enough good things about a wonderful resource for the community. Well kept, clean, and chalk full of inspiration and resources. Books to check out, large selection of games to play, computer stations and more. Easy to access public restroom. The staff were friendly and kind, interacting with the many children drawn to the location. I have one caveat concerning the staff however. There was one individual staff member or volunteer (indicated by name tag) that was freely roaming among the children playing games and talking. Whatever their eccentricities may have been (an odd duck to be sure, but nothing wrong with that) I was displeased with how they interacted with my small children - interrupting them, taking toys out of their hands rudely, and talking without listening to others. I looked around and saw many unchaperoned children. I would hope that another staff member would at least shadow this individual and monitor behavior. I felt comfortable as I was with my children and able to interact, respond, and eventually limit our interactions with this volunteer. But if I was a parent of an older child who visited Spark alone or with minimal supervision...I would want to know this individual is also monitored and supported. (Not left unsupervised with a bunch of kids.) Based on how the other staff acted I have full faith they will monitor this in the future even though I never explicitly asked any questions to that effect.
