Powered by GoogleMy first google review. My three young children have been attending this gym for the past year, and overall we had been happy—until a recent experience that was incredibly disappointing. My 5-year-old has been working through some big emotions lately, after going through things in the last three years that I do not wish on anyone, let alone a child. She can have difficulty following instructions if her and her identical twin are separated. She was running around and not listening to instructions so I came in and removed her from the class. While I absolutely understand that this behavior is disruptive to others, and I do not in any way condone it, and I was disappointed in her choice to act this way, but I was addressing it as her parent. She was not being unsafe or hurting anyone—and she is five years old. What was most upsetting was that, without any warning, conversation, or attempt to work with us, I was told she would have to be dismissed. I then received an email confirming her removal from the program the next morning. There was no opportunity to correct the behavior, no discussion of expectations, and no grace extended for a young child still learning emotional regulation. Because of this, I asked for my other two children to also be withdrawn. As a single mom, it’s simply not realistic or fair for me to bring two of my children while excluding the other—especially when this situation wasn’t handled collaboratively. I understand that structure and behavior expectations are important in a class setting and I apologized profusely to the staff for this behavior when it happened. However, families should also expect some level of understanding, communication, and support—especially when it comes to very young children. If your child isn’t “perfect,” this probably is not be the right place for your family. In regards to your response: This was the one and only time she was removed from class. There was only one other instance where I spoke with her when she was not following directions and she returned to class. I was there every time to intervene and I spoke with her coach and gave her recommendations and she even told us she was doing great just last week. For future matters like these, it is my recommendation to you that these matters should be addressed in person. No parent would ignore an email about their child’s behavior.
My 5yr old and 7yr old started at the same time. One is very active the other is shy. The staff has worked with us so much! The first few times especially! Learning the expectations, safety and routines. And the fun! All of the Coaches and staff have become like family. I appreciate how simple it is to do make-up days if we miss. Schedule, Payments and receipts are easy especially with the parent portal. We tried a few weeks with my oldest.( Our Coach was incredible communicating with us. They make it easy to work together so our kiddos have the best time!)Ultimately we decided we could try again another time. Our youngest though! found her groove and is still enjoying it! Learning how to harness all of that energy and feeling proud when she finally gets a certain movement. The Coaches have a way of weaving safety, skills and fun. Seeing the kids encouraging each other, no matter the skill level is an incredible thing for a parent to watch. Even for my kiddo that only went a few times, it was great to try something new, feel safe mentally emotionally physically and also to Know they're welcome back when ready. But also to say, maybe this isn't for me right now. And that's ok! The coaches and staff could see both of my(very opposite) kiddos for who they are and where they are. The Gymnastics skills we signed up for turned out to be the cherry on top of everything else. I can't thank Somersaults enough. I wish I could leave more stars! I
Birthday party went very smoothly. They did a great job. Kids had a blast.
RUN!!! Take your kiddos to this incredible gym! The staff is incredible and the owner is just the best! Kiddos ages walking and up have a class to enjoy! My toddlers absolutely love it and wish it was everyday. They offer toddler open gym as well which has been so much fun to go with other mom friends :)
My daughter has loved every minute of her classes at Somersaults! The coaches are always supportive and motivating. At every turn she is encouraged to do her personal best and above all, to try! She has amazed herself at times with what she can do... not to mention her proud family! Thank you, Somersaults staff, instructors and coaches, for caring so much about the kids and providing an atmosphere of excellence in which they can learn, practice and achieve confidence with each new skill!
