Solid Ground Farm
Private
Solid Ground Farm is a small sustainable, off-grid permaculture farm and community center in Millfield, Ohio that hosts Rising Appalachia's (RAW) youth outdoor day camps. These five-day day camps immerse children in nature through hands-on projects, free play, natural-resource arts and crafts, and guided group challenges. Fees run on a voluntary sliding scale, and the farm also serves as a place-based education site and land lab.

Powered by GoogleSeems like a poorly put together place. Definitely not the safest environment. I also get the impression that they take advantage of families who don't have better resources on hand for more proper outdoor programs. It's a glorified daycare that leads kids about the forest. The owner stuck me as a pretentious rich kid who was quite disrespectful. But to each thier own. It's better than nothing if you want to get your child in an outdoor environment.
Great place for adults and kids alike. Just a short ride from the Bailey's run trailhead. 5 miles outside of Athens. Great example of sustainable agroforestry and farming, with an obstacle course to boot. I love Solid Ground. My kids do too!
Wonderful place, a beautiful sustainable agriculture farm that hosts educational events and workshops. Plus, some great food as well.
Was lucky enough to visit during my college courses at Hocking College. We planted apple and mulberry trees along the path to the pond for the future campers. This man has built a piece of his own heaven. Permaculture farming, summer camps, organic raised foods and animals. This place is a beautiful farm in a small little Ohio Valley along a beautiful Ridge line. Weston offers many workshops and educational experiences and I highly recommend checking out the Paw Paw festival... which he also is the organizer for.
A great place to stay for a weekend visit. Ideal for small groups or a family. This is a secluded, cozy airbnb cabin on a beautiful ridge. The owner, Weston, is very accommodating and his talents and craftsmanship are visible throughout the place. He has built his own adventure park, keeps some hogs and sheep, and has a homemade gym, garden, hot tub, multiple ponds and a greenhouse.
