Powered by GoogleI go to the YMCA here because it's ten minutes from home. The people are friendly and polite. The inside is of the gym is easy to navigate inside and out. They keep this place clean and the pool is awesome! More importantly, they have a day care center for young children and indoor activities for pool time. Plenty of parking front and back. They also have clean locker room ready for both private shower and bathroom, on the side of pool area. Bathroom's are always kept clean before and after use. They do have handicap front door ready. Also, they have a indoor basketball court.
I've been a member for years. The gym is great. They just got updated cardio equipment. It can be very busy between 8-11am. And the parking lot at that time can get very full. The pool is nice. You would be wise to check the schedule or call before going. One female life guard does seem to bother us. I try to check when she's there to avoid the aggravation. We can just go to the Nazareth YMCA pool which I honestly prefer because they have a sauna. I've also been to other facilities and this one is by far the cleanest. There's also many classes and activities offered. The member pricing has been steadily rising. But they have updated and improved on cleanliness through The years.
Went to see this Ys 20 min. From Stroudsburg beautiful clean big pool lots of classes. The Y on main st stroudsburg is 200 yrs I live 3 minutes from there. But it's so gross locker (yuck) not a lot of swim or open supposed to close years ago the plans or there they probably spend the money and will raise our taxes again. Bye bye going to do some warm weather for a change south Carolina
Do not get a membership at the Slate Belt YMCA. 3 issues I'll touch on: 1. Staff 2. The Gym 3. Hours/Closings 1. Staff: The new staff are never available at the desk, always sitting in the break room. There used to be staff who cared and always said hello and talked but now there's only one woman who sits at the front desk (very kind, she's the only employee alongside the janitor). The others just sit around all day. 2. The Gym: In addition, the gym used to be upkept. There used to be someone monitoring so that kids would not come start messing around and throwing weights/injuring themselves. Now, no one monitors the gym and it shows. I'm all for people in the gym but not if they're unsupervised kids causing disruption for others. 3. Finally, the biggest issue is the closings. I've been going to the Slate Belt YMCA for years now and have never had many issues with closings. This year has been unprecedented. It almost seems like if there's a gust of wind, they'll close. They'll close at nearly any inconvenience and nearly every holiday. At this point I should get a discount for how many times I've showed up and they've been closed (as my membership goes up for the third time in 2 years). It's discouraging and sad to see the quality of this branch go down the drain but that's what happens when you get new management and hire people who don't care.
Your pool hours went from bad to worse. That's great that you added Friday, but who is swimming between the hours of 3 to 7 on a Friday? You have missed the mark for your seniors that prefer early hours, your disabled that can't always do days in a row (Sunday and Monday), and your workers that swim before going to work. Also, when holidays fall on a Monday we are losing that day too. Then, there's a 4 day wait from Wednesday to Sunday, because again, who can swim on Friday between 3 to 7? Please, I'm begging you to do better for your swimmers. If you're going to give us Friday back, please make it morning hours. Also, please don't tell me to go to other facilities. Slate belt is the cleanest and they have the zero gravity ramp.
