Scouts BSA overnight resident camp on more than 2,200 acres of the Cumberland Plateau, run by the Cherokee Area Council out of Chattanooga. The property has waterfalls, caves, scenic overlooks and wooded forest, and the summer program is a traditional merit-badge camp offering about 50 badges, including 11 Eagle-required and 15 STEM-related options; instruction runs Monday through Thursday, with Friday given over to make-up time, special events and camp-wide games. Scouts sleep in 14 traditional campsites with concrete tent pads, fire rings and latrine/shower houses, or in 18 small cabins for two to three people with electrical service. Scouts attend with their unit rather than enrolling individually.

Powered by GoogleI went to Skymont recently for a 10 day scout summer camp. The general experience was a 10/10. Although the camp itself could use some updates. The tents and lots which were provided were vastly underwhelming (The roof of my tent was held together by duct tape and my cot was 50% holes). The campgrounds are hard to navigate but still on the nicer side. There is a hidden waterfall by Lake 2, and it is BEAUTIFUL. The camp has an abnormally large population of ticks so be careful. The food was ok, not great not terrible. The staff was overall rather pleasant and i would probably return if I had the chance. Shout out Swim Shady (Mr. Mike, the Aquatics instructor)
Kids had an amazing time. Beautiful views. Lots of hiking opportunities. Great selection of merit badge programs.
I went here with my 11 year old son for his first year of scout camp. He had a great time and wanted to stay another week. The campsite have actual toilets (not latrines) and showers with tankless hot water heaters. Your troop will need to bring propane for the hot water heater though. The staff were great, especially the aquatics area staff.
We just returned from this Scout Reservation and our Troop loved this camp! We were treated like family. The camp is well maintained with beautiful natural resources and scenery. All staff were extremely professional and top notch Merit Badge instructors. Some of the best food we’ve had at camp. Our Troop guide, Will, supported our troop the entire time, gave a thorough tour, and had great fellowship with our Scouts. The Commissioner, Amy, was everywhere and so engaged. She led some amazing leader hikes! The Cherokee Council even provided thank you letters to leader’s employers. We will definitely be putting Skymont on our Summer Camp rotation list. Wonderful experience and memories of a lifetime! Thank you Skymont team and Cherokee Council for an amazing week!
We stayed at this camp for our summer camp 2022. We are from the Greater St. Louis Area council. This was a very clean campground. The staff was awesome, and the program areas were nice. Also put on some of the best opening and closing programs that I have witnessed. Definitely will put this on our list of Summer Camps to rotate in. I didn't take many photos with out scouts in them, so here are two I can share.
