The Town of Silver City's recreation center (the Henry V. 'La Burra' Morales Recreation Center, opened 2025) is a municipal facility with sports courts, fitness studios, and event spaces. It hosts youth sports leagues, fitness classes, and community events rather than a dedicated children's summer day camp.

I let my son play basketball there after school for the 1st time yesterday. Facility was great but the older lady working there started putting away the basketball hoop while my boy was playing. It wasn't even close to closing time yet. That was very rude, especially when he was well behaved while there. Kind of feel like writing a formal complaint against her. Isn't that what the Rec center is for, kids to have a space place to play?

Game changing all around. They actually seem glad to see you walk in. The facility is first class.

Staff is always friendly. Just shooting basketball by myself here is great physical therapy for my messed up wrists and hands. 😎

Got a tour today, super pumped for the kids growing up here that get to use it! Wish we had this growing up, don’t get me wrong I loved roller blading at the one on hill but this place is awesome! Only thing I think it is missing is a gym! I know growing up here the gym was a life saver and helped me stay out of of trouble, just another way to help keep kids off the street. I heard from other people here that the local gyms complained about the possibility of having a free/low fee gym but that makes 0 sense, the rec center is to help youth that might not be able to afford 35$ a month so hopefully their complaints aren’t the reason why…. For profit businesses shouldn’t have a say in what a rec centers do with their resources if thats really the case.. That’s like if Jaliscos complained about free lunches being handed out at the park in the summer… either way, super pumped to see that in the community! Hope the kids take care of it and appreciate it!
