I truly thank you for giving my oldest daughter the opportunity to be apart of this, as a single mom I never dreamed I'd be able to give her these cool opportunities but y'all made that happen and I am grateful!! As someone who loves film/music work, it fills my heart to see others pouring knowledge into my childs mind. Everyday she came home with new excitement and to watch that happiness is a reminder to me of how I felt when I first started this crazy film journey 3 years ago. I can't wait to see where this takes her and we can't wait to see the screening on Thursday! 🐝🐝🐝

I’ve always wanted to do film and now I have! I have made great friendships, connections, and progress for my success in my future!! I’m grateful to have been apart of this project to help girls shine through their artistic talents in filmmaking and themselves.

My daughter cannot say enough good things about this camp experience that gives girls an opportunity to work in a fun and creative space. The girls get first hand experience learning how to lead specific aspects of a project. The Honeyhead team takes in the girls ideas and lets them take the lead. The girls’ ideas get heard and there is focused attention on each individual. The outcome is girls who come out of camp with a higher level of confidence. Hats off to these incredible mentors for truly making a difference for these young women, empowering them to reach for their dreams!

Outstanding learning experience. I can not say enough good things about this program. As a mom and also a veteran educator, this program far exceeds expectations and is a perfect example of a circular education project with an authentic audience. From day one my daughter left the course enthusiastic and excited about the program, and this only grew throughout the week. She met with industry professionals who encouraged her to find her voice and use it, learned to navigate creative differences with team members and felt the great satisfaction of creating a real music video that will be shown in public. What makes this camp unique and special is the incredible dedication that the Honey Head team puts into every detail, from announcing the girls jobs to organizing a special screening of the videos with an audience. You can immediately feel they truly care deeply about mentoring the next generation of film makers while elevating the craft. The Shoot Like a Girl film camp has everything; experienced professionals mentoring the girls in the camp, campers pouring their hearts and souls into making a video that will honor the musicians who are sharing a song, and aspiring actors being given a chance to to participate in a short video, bolstering their own portfolio. So many people have been touched this week, it's not just about the campers but the ripple effect throughout the community. Everything is real, not for a for a grade which makes it so authentic and valuable. The fact that the team takes time to lobby the community to obtain funds for scholarships making it easier for girls to participate shows a deep concern for democratizing a program of this caliber. My family lives in Mexico City and we spent a week in Wilmington, NC so that my daughter could participate. It was worth every effort we made for her to attend and has only solidified her desire to continue to pursue a journey in telling stories through film.

What an AMAZING Experience! Kristi & Erika, and all of the women, with Honey Head Films did an incredible job with the camp and their campers. I was throughly impressed with the level of organization, leadership and education. As an actor, it was truly an awe inspiring opportunity to work with all women. The set was extremely relaxed and everyone was beyond kind. Watching Erika work with and gently guide Scarlett was pure magic. (Scarlett is the teenager who wrote and directed the film I was privileged to be a part of.)
