Powered by GoogleI have been involved in Schmata Productions for over 10 years. My daughter said she wanted to be on stage, in 2nd grade. Schmata was associated with our synagogue, so we both jumped in. She stayed for 7 years, I remain. Why? The people are wonderful team players. We prioritize the physical and mental health and well-being of our children. Our musical productions do not have cuts. Any child (within parameters) who wants to have a pert will. This is important for well being, as cuts occur with theatre throughout the schools and other youth groups. Kids acquire soft skills, such as teamwork, advocacy, improved self image, and desensitization of being in front of an audience to speak, dance and/or sing. Parents are encouraged to assist us with our performance preparation. I’ve been sewing and organizing costumes for years. We are a nonprofit, so many hands are greatly appreciated. Summers are terrific with Schmata. Kids seeing magic and learning to perform, lots of drawing, games, lessons. The Renaissance Faire is my personal favorite. Looking forward to going back after Covid. In all, Schmata is a wholesome, adult managed children’s musical production company, home based in Beth Chaim Reform Synagogue. We love what we do, and kids have a fantastic time. Please consider Schmata Productions for summer experience and/or school year musical theater!
Schmata Productions provided a caring, nurturing environment in which my child discovered his passion and talent for acting. Participating in the school year program and being a part of the company changed his outlook in the most positive way. He developed confidence and learned not just how to thrive in live theatre, but life skills that helped him thrive offstage. The directors and staff bring out the best in the students and work to be inclusive of every child who has a desire to participate. We didn't just become part of a theatre company, but part of a family.
