Rotary Scout Reservation is a 1,300-acre Boy Scout summer camp in Averill Park, NY, owned and operated by the Twin Rivers Council, BSA. It runs about five weeks of resident (overnight) Scout camp with merit-badge programs and outdoor skills such as archery, riflery, swimming, fishing, ropes courses and nature study, plus year-round cabin and campsite rentals. Primarily for registered Scouts.

★★★★★GaryThroughout the second half of the 1960s, I attended week-long summer Boy Scout camps here - and I loved them! I learned how to start fires and build campfires. I learned how to tie knots and mark trails. We practiced archery and riflery. I learned about stars and constellations. I learned about local wild animals and plants, including edible plants like wintergreen. We fished and ate pan-fried trout we caught - best fish I've ever had! We hiked and did what I loved best - swim - in that wonderful lake! From looking at the photos, it is very similar now to when I was there. The tents up on platforms are identical. The big main lawn area that runs down to the lake, with the flagpoles, is the same. Our dining hall was open on the sides - I believe it is fully enclosed now. The sugared Kool-Aid we drank with dinner attracted bugs - hence, it became nicknamed "bug juice"! We had multi-seat outhouses in our campgrounds- I think they are now bona fide bathrooms? Our showers were basically multi-head outdoor.setups with cold water only - you showered in your bathing suit. It is great to see this place is still going!

★★★★Topace 103The camp was decent and offered quite a few merit badges. Staff was very friendly and will probably go again. Only downside was it was a very long walk to some places and it was very hilly. Merit badge signups were a little bit hectic as well.
