Rockford Elite Basketball runs the Take the Leap Summer Basketball Academy, a full week of basketball instruction covering fundamentals, competitive scenarios, film study and games. The 2026 camp runs July 13-17 at Boylan High School's Lou Bachrodt Center in Rockford, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is open to boys and girls entering grades 3-8; campers bring their own basketball, lunch and water. It is led by former NBA player and camp director Ashraf Amaya with Rockford Elite staff and alumni now playing in high school and college. The club has run youth basketball in the Rockford area since 2009 and also fields travel teams from 3rd/4th grade through 16U.
