Powered by GoogleOur daughter has been attending Riverview for 9 years. As someone who grew up going to summer camp, it’s so important that she have some time to grow, learn, and just be on her own during the summer. I cannot say enough good things about Riverview. It is our daughter’s favorite time of the year!!
Update June 15, 2025: Still 5/5 stars! My daughter Kathryn is 11 and just finished her 4th year as a happy camper at Riverview. She took 2 activities for the first time this year-- Canoeing and Archery. She has such fun trying new things and building more skills. She was thrilled also to take Advanced Riding and place 3rd in the Advanced Horseshow. Basketball, Volleyball, Dance, and Drama also get top ratings from Kathryn. I was most proud that she won a spirit award. I cannot express how much I believe in Riverview Camp as a place for my child to make lifelong friends, and to develop confidence and good character. Having 2 weeks away from screens and air conditioning, to unplug and be off grid-- running around outside, having carefully supervised activities in a fun, structured schedule, laughing with other little girls on the banks of Little River-- is by far the most important investment in my daughter's development that I could ever make. Growing up with summers on Lookout Mountain is an important part of who they become. Yes it costs a lot to run an amazing camp, and to send children there. But it is worth every dollar. Thanks to Susan, Larry, Donna, and their whole crew who make camp there a most magical, memorable, fun, and safe part of childhood. I enthusiastically recommend Riverview Camp for Girls! Update June 04, 2023: Still 5/5 stars!! My daughter Kathryn is now 9, and we took her to Riverview Camp this morning for her 2nd year. She is SO excited to be staying 2 weeks this year! Counselors, Directors, and Staff are all so positive and welcoming. I cannot imagine a better investment for my child's future. I love to see her grow at camp in her independence, courage, and good character. Friendships made here will last a lifetime. She kept up with 1 *pen pal* camp buddy by snail mail for the whole past year. 💖 And the girls have so much fun everyday as they build skills and confidence in all their activities. Thank you again to Susan, Donna, and the whole team!!! Blessings for a wonderful summer. 🙏 For anyone considering camp for your daughters (or granddaughters or nieces!)-- I enthusiastically recommend Riverview Camp for Girls on Lookout Mountain in Mentone, Alabama. ❤️ 🏞 Spring 2022 Beautiful traditional girls' camp on Lookout Mountain, with Little River running through. Had an amazing time at Mother-Daughter weekend, in excited preparation for my child's first session away at camp this summer! Delighted to carry on the Mentone, Alabama camping tradition for the 3rd generation. My mother went to Camp DeSoto, I was a camper at Camp Skyline, brother (and nephews) at Camp Laney, and now daughter Kathryn at Riverview. How good it was this weekend to see my 7-year old jumping in to ride horses, swim, do archery, arts & crafts... and especially to see the amazing staff encourage her from Saturday's attempt to climb up for zipline (crying in fear and not finishing)... to Sunday pushing HERSELF to try again-- and making it with huge smiles!! Big thanks to Susan, Larry, Donna, Vickie, and all the owners, directors, counselors, and staff who make this camp a safe place for girls to learn and grow into strong, confident, healthy, happy people. Some of my best friends in the world are folks I met at camp on Lookout Mountain starting 46 years ago! Highly recommend Riverview.
We are so thankful for Riverview Camp for Girls and the ladies who make it happen. It was a wonderful place for our daughter to spend part of her summer every year for 10 years. It truly helped her become the independent successful person she is today. The friendships she formed at camp when she was just 8 years old are some of her best college friends. Even though they all go to 3 different big SEC schools, they've traveled miles to see each other and share in their college experiences. Riverview Camp was the place that created the time and space for those friendships to blossom. And now our sweet girl and her friends have loved it so much that they are continuing their summers there by becoming counselors. Thank you Riverview Camp for Girls!
Riverview Camp for Girls is great! It’s a beautiful property and the owners and staff are the best, most kind people. Both of my girls and their friends love their time at Riverview.
Really enjoyed it! Was there for Footmad Birmingham's Dance Weekend. Cabins were well-maintained and comfortable, dance hall was great as usual! Loved the swimming hole! Picture is a little to the right of the swimming hole.
