My Son Hudson (age 12, 7th grade) attended the RSFA football camp this past 2025 Summer and the tremendous, positive influence the camp has had on him is a blessing! The strong leadership from Owner/operator Ron Johnson who was very approachable, helpful both pre & post camp in communication; and along with the carefully selected staff of counselors consisting of college & high school coaches and college players, along with the healthy, safe camp culture of accountability, effort, building football knowledge and having fun made this a memorable & impactful experience. Also, the constant approach & teachings throughout the week of camp of the importance of being a good student first, good player second ; (there’s a reason why the term “student-athlete” is worded this way). Regardless of being a commuter camper or a resident camper like Hudson was (he enjoyed the mentoring, structured “college experience” of being on his own, having a roommate, meal periods, managing the detailed and demanding communicated field workouts & classroom workshops)-this camp is beneficial to a wide age range of campers from a young youth player to a high school aged football player aspiring to play at the next level. As a first time camper this past Summer, it’s a no-brainer that we will continue the investment to have our Son attend camp at RSFA every Summer til he finishes High school. The habit forming behavior, maturity, growth and development as a Son, sibling, person & athlete that he has shown following the camp & the exposure he had to individuals (staff, guest speakers) that have accomplished great things in the game of football & life has undeniably resulted in Hudson getting off to a great start this regular football season in his league w extreme confidence and dominating performance. He even wears the RSFA decal sticker on his team helmet and proudly represents the organization. Thank you Coach Ron & the entire Rising Star Football Academy staff for dedicating the time to all the campers each year and advancing their growth and development as a student-athlete. Our foundation (Women's Gridiron Foundation, Inc) was both grateful and inspired to work alongside Ron, his volunteer staff, and trusted tribe of coaches and leadership for his inaugural Girls Flag Football Camp. I have been a part of, and collaborated with, many organizations and events since 2015, as the Executive Director of WGF. My final words to those of us who were present and a part of this exceptional and truly special experience were these: "This has been the most meaningful and impactful experience in which our foundation has been involved to date." My feet still haven't made contact with the ground after over a week; my football-shaped heart is still bursting as I reflect on all of the teaching "moments" for the participants - both planned and unplanned. Ron assembled nothing short of a magical group of individuals to lead, teach, care for, and coach the mighty girls that attended this inaugural camp. I am committed to, and fully invested in, this endeavor for the long haul. Something Special has been created and the intention of all those involved is to build on the foundation that has now been laid. I have had the pleasure of sending my son James to camp for several years. You can see my parent reviews on google. Today I would like to review Rising Stars as a team member. I had the pleasure of working with The Rising Stars Team this year. It was an incredible experience and really solidified my thoughts as a parent. There is just no team like this. Ron has put together a FAMILY of coaches who return year after year. Students who have graduated return each year to help coach and mentor those younger athletes. Resident campers return year and again! Staff remember each kid and recognizes the progress they have made over the school year. The fact that retention of staff and campers alike is so large is a testament in and of itself to the type of camp this is. Rising Stars is not only a camp, it’s an experience and an education that you think “starts” with football. Truly though, Rising Stars focus’s on what it takes to be an amazing athlete. The foundation of which actually STARTS with the athletes character, education, being coachable, taking responsibility, work ethic, and so much more. As a parent, my son would come home and tell me about the education they got at night. (If you have a boy you know it was a few words, and then me pulling info from him.) As a staff member listening to the incredible pro athletes, coaches, lawyers, marketers, financial services, physicians, college recruiters, etc that took the time to come and impart their knowledge to these athletes was just incredibly inspiring! The amount of information given at the level that all ages could understand was amazing to watch. The ultimate for me as a parent and Nurse Practitioner is always the safety of our kids. I knew that Ron and the team run a tight ship, and that camper safety is their highest priority. The dorms are monitored by staff all night. This year female athletes participated so there was dedicated female dorm staff for camps female athlete! As well, the dorm had its own dedicated school officer. The campus is beautiful and dorms are secured by badges in and out for each athlete. Attending camp and being part of the team this year, I can tell you how impressed I was with the attention to detail and athlete medical safety. The trainers on staff are second to none. They were always watching the heat, calculating humidity, and the amount of time kids could be outside safely. Moving practice times or moving indoors when needed because of heat. Attending to sprains, strains, and all that comes along with being an elite athlete. Coaches regularly communicate with the medical team and check in with kids addressing any issues in real time. Having worked emergency medicine I know Ron’s team was well prepared for anything, but because of their attention to every detail, preventative measures implemented, and constant monitoring, they never needed to enact an emergency plan. That is an impressive feat with 150 children! There are not enough words to describe the man that Coach Ron is. Coach Ron and Rising Stars is supported behind the scenes by his incredible wife Dora, his loving mother Cassandra, and from above Ron Sr. Who have given year after year their love and support to help make this the best character building and football camp out there. This is one not to miss. My only regret is not finding Rising Stars sooner, and not volunteering sooner. Being a part of such an incredible program has been an absolute honor.

INVEST in your Child and their future. Our son James absolutely loves coming to Rising Stars Camp. Ron and his team make the kids feel so welcome. They are huge on the safety of the kids in terms of heat safety, having trainers on hand for minor injuries, and safety overnight in the dorms. There are strict curfews and staff maintain control over the dorms well. This program is run like a tight ship. Ron has a no nonsense policy and it is followed to a T. These kids learn respect, extreme ownership and responsibility, team work and so much more. Ron and his team focus on education as a foundation for growth and then education for the sport it self. There are so many incredible athletes and coaches that come back each year to help train the boys, and inspire them to be better humans, better students, better teammates, better athletes and more. Ron instills in these kids its not just about the game. They need to INVEST in themselves every day, in every aspect of their lives. We had the pleasure of speaking with a house keeper while picking up our son, she commented that the kids are the most respectful and cleanest of all the camps that come through during the summer and even the college kids in the dorms EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!!!
