Rising Appalachian Warriors (RAW) is an outdoor summer day camp for youth ages 6-17 at Solid Ground Farm in Millfield, about 10 minutes from Athens. Held entirely outdoors (with no electricity or running water in the main program areas), it centers on environmental education, adventure, team-building and leadership, ancestral skills, water quality, art and play. Run by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Rising Appalachia, it uses a voluntary sliding-scale fee with scholarships available.
