This place is horrible they practically abuse kids would not recommend!!!If zero stars were an option, that’s what this place would receive. Ridgecrest Camp for Boys was a deeply upsetting experience for our family, and the consequences have lasted long after the camp ended. What was advertised as a positive, character-building environment turned out to be stressful, frightening, and completely inappropriate for children. Several of the activities felt more like intimidation than education. Kids were placed into uncomfortable, fear-based situations under the excuse of “tradition” or “ceremony,” with little regard for their emotional or physical safety. The supervision was inadequate, and when children were clearly distressed, it was brushed off as something they needed to “push through.” Looking back, the overall atmosphere felt controlling and manipulative rather than supportive. Instead of encouraging healthy growth, the camp seemed more focused on enforcing compliance and belief systems. That alone should concern any parent. The most heartbreaking part is the lasting impact. My child is now seeing a therapist for trauma and anxiety directly tied to this experience. No summer camp should leave a child needing professional help just to feel okay again. Parents should think very carefully before trusting this camp with their children. We deeply regret doing so and would never recommend it to anyone.

My son had a terrible experience. Would give zero stars if possible. The other campers in his cabin completely ignored my son and left him out the entire time. The boys were very cliquey and just treated him like a parriah. For a camp that boasts inclusiveness, it was anything but. I would NOT recommend Ridgecrest Camp for boys.

My son has camped here for four years and we love it. He always comes home happy and excited to share his amazing two weeks with us. He returns invigorated and more mature each year. He sends us letters and honestly it is wonderful he has to disconnect for two weeks and “thrive” without us. The camp has always communicated issues with us (for example this year we received notice of a problem in the cabin he was in that was swiftly dealt with so this behavior would not impact the rest of the campers experience. The fact that they enforced their behavioral policies is commended as this does not happen often these days). They offer a wide variety of skills to choose from that will appeal to whatever your child is interested in from arts to sports to outdoorsmanship. They have a full time Clinical staff for any sickness or emergencies and check for lice thoroughly at check-in. There are lessons and memories here that will last a lifetime. Some sessions fill up fast so make sure you don’t miss registration.
