The Rehoboth Bay Sailing Association runs a Junior Sailing School at Dewey Beach, DE for children roughly ages 6-16. Younger sailors (6-7) learn on Optimist dinghies and older kids on Sunfish, in morning sessions that run Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 11:45am starting in mid-June.

The staff were very friendly and relaxed and will give as little or as much instruction as you want prior to leaving the shore. The Bay Area is perfect for these boats and the wind was great! The sailing club has tables that you can use before/after you sail and the atmosphere is extremely relaxing. The boats are also extremely easy to use! We loved our entire experience!

Lots of sailboats, kayaks, paddle boards, and other stuff available to rent, at a reasonable price. It’s a great place to spend the day. It’s never crowded, with free parking, full bathrooms, and a nice little beach area along the bay. They have private lessons if you want to learn how to sail, and offer a weekly sailing school during the summer for kids 6 and up. Why deal with the crowds of the beach when you can come relax on the bay?
