Ray Bird Ministries
Private
Christian overnight camp on 149 acres about 15 minutes west of downtown South Bend, with half a mile of lake frontage, a sand beach and a three-story water slide. Camp Ray Bird runs five-day sessions for children ages 8-15 with archery, go-karts, rock climbing, swimming and large-group games, and campers sleep in cabins. The camp is trauma-informed and built to serve low-income Michiana families: fees slide from $650 down to about $30 per camper based on household income, and it traces its roots to a fresh-air camp begun by the founders of South Bend's City Rescue Mission.
